Natalie Morrison is the founder of Acron Threads, a sports luxe lifestyle brand that strives to promote happiness in all that they do. Natalie believes that living a balanced life by looking after your physical and mental health is a vital part to being happy.

Natalie and her husband have recently launched a campaign called ‘Not Alone’, to raise awareness for depression and anxiety with cricketer Mitchell Johnson as their ambassador. They believe that one of the biggest obstacles to being your best self are depression and anxiety, and they are passionate about breaking down the stigma and raising awareness for mental health. They are encouraging as many people as possible to take a selfie with their glasses upside down (to show your world feels upside down living with mental illness) using the hashtag #notaloneteam and nominating their friends to do the same.

What does confidence mean to you?

Embracing and believing in your unique self.

Where did you learn how to be confident, or how are you learning now?

My mother always had low self-esteem which rubbed off on me for many years, whereby I really struggled to find my confidence.

I now have two beautiful young daughters who have me as their biggest role model, so they inspire me every day to be the person I want them to be. They are my drive and motivation.

What do you think makes it difficult for women to love themselves and own who they are?

Women are very critical, especially of themselves. We often have much higher expectations of ourselves and tend to treat ourselves less kindly as we would others.

Women tend to compare themselves to others, but only what can be seen on the outside, not realising that everyone has their struggles with certain things. We need to accept and embrace that we are all unique with different strengths and inner gifts.

What challenges do you face that dampens your confident levels?

Physically, it can be challenging after having kids when your body isn’t the same as it was before.

Mentally, when I have a lot on and don’t make enough time to centre myself.

Professionally, when things don’t go as I had hoped, it’s easy to lose confidence and question yourself, the business, your products….

Who is the most confident person in your life and what qualities do they have?

My husband, he is confident, centred, calm and positive. He is my biggest inspiration and I feel so lucky to have him by my side every day!

When do you feel your most confident, powerful, or beautiful?

When I have balance in my life; time with family and friends, me time and time for my business.

Do you have any quick confidence tips when you want to boost your self-esteem?

If you’re having an off day, make a little more effort into the way you present yourself. Normally we tend to present ourselves on the outside as we feel on the inside, so by putting in the extra effort it can have an outside-in affect.

Is there anything else you would like to share or advice for other women who may be struggling with their own confidence and self-worth?

Try to only compare yourself to yourself. Support others as you would want them to support you. Surround yourself with positive, uplifting people. Ask yourself, what makes me my happiest best self? And then work towards achieving that.

Just be you, as those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.
